Check the firm, not just the advert

Use the FCA Firm Checker to check whether a financial firm is authorised and has the permissions relevant to the service you want. The trading name, website and contact details should match the official information.

Authorisation does not guarantee returns, eliminate risk or establish Shariah compliance. Protections depend on the firm, activity and product.

Make space to think

A polished website, a familiar logo or a recommendation in a group chat is not enough to establish trust. Pause if you feel pressured to transfer money quickly, and verify information independently.

A simple research note

  • Record the firm’s legal name and official contact details.
  • Check the permissions for the specific service.
  • Read fees, withdrawal terms and risk information.
  • Keep religious screening separate from regulatory checks.
